About Wanderer

Wanderer grew up in Kansas City, MO. She is known for complex and layer filled, passionate delivery and writing. She engages with communities and her goal is to present various perspectives of different life experiences of sub groups of people to encourage conversation and unity, love and peace in the world. Wanderer has been writing and performing spoken word poetry since 2013 and won poetry slams in Colorado Springs (Hear Here), Kansas City (FTW Slam), New York (Nuyorican Poets Cafe), etc. She presented for the Pikes Peak Southern Christian Leadership Conference, opened for author/speaker Megan Fate Marshman, was the feature poet at Zodiac Venue/Bar in Colorado Springs, CO etc. Wanderer began a poetry collective—Steel Script—at her alma mater, The US Air Force Academy. These poets challenge audiences by addressing difficult and controversial topics by including all perspectives in an effort to encourage unity via understanding and acknowledgement. Wanderer wrote, produced and directed Steel Script’s debut one night only show which garnered an audience that filled an auditorium that holds approximately 1,000 people. In addition to poetry, Wanderer is a singer-songwriter and a playwright using those talents to reach her goals for the world as well.

About Wanderer

Cydnee A. Reese is a multi-hyphenate artist and philanthropist whose work spans music, poetry, film, and social impact. She authored Ebony Blankets: A Collection of Poems by the Artist Called Wanderer and edited Joyce Lee's Dancing in the Presence of Men: A Book of Love & Lovers. Her children’s book, A Lot of Miles, is used in public school curricula as a tool to enhance literacy and introduce empathy.

Under the stage name Wanderer, she has won poetry slams nationwide, including at the renowned Nuyorican Poets Café in New York. As singer-songwriter Cydnée Alyxzan, she has collaborated internationally with artists from six countries and is a two-time International Songwriting Competition semi-finalist.

Reese’s play The Feminist was named a 2022 AITAF Bridge Award semi-finalist and is currently being adapted into a feature film. She also wrote and directed the short film Comfort in Silence, earning her Best First-Time Director at the Chicago Shorts Film Festival and five other official international festival selections.

In addition to her artistic endeavors, Reese founded Wanderer Speaks United, an arts focused nonprofit that supports artists and humanitarian causes. Driven by her belief in art’s transformative power, she continues to inspire change through her creative and philanthropic pursuits.
